Ordway Center for the Performing Arts

2008 co-production with American Musical Theatre of San Jose and The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle of CABARET brings second Ivey Award recognition to Ordway Center.

Cabaret

SAINT PAUL, MN—Ordway Center for the Performing Arts received a 2008 Ivey Award (www.iveyawards.com) for sets, costumes, direction and choreography of their production of CABARET! This is the second year Ordway center has received recognition, having won in 2007 for their production of Love, Janis.

At the award ceremony, held Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Historic State Theatre in Minneapolis, the evaluator who recommended the award for this production was quoted as saying that the sets and costumes transported the audience back to a different time.

Producing Artistic Director James Rocco accepted the award on behalf of Ordway Center and fellow producing partners American Musical Theatre of San Jose and the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, Washington. CABARET was a true co-production in the sense that the actors, artists and technicians were a collective from all three cities. The show’s direction was by Bill Berry, choreography by Bob Richard, set and lighting design was by Tom Sturge, costume design was by Thomas G. Marquez, and hair and make-up design was by Sharon Ridge. Cabaret starred Tari Kelly as Sally Bowles; Nick Garrison as the Emcee, and Louis Hobson as Cliff Bradshaw.
